The Gellideg Foundation Group Youth Worker
Join the Gellideg Foundation Group as a Youth Worker, to proactively engage young people aged between 11-25 years of age living in the Gellideg, Twyncarmel and Trefechan area. Support young people to develop socially and emotionally whilst providing them with access to a range of new opportunities to extend their cultural, physical and educational development.

Main working location: The Wellbeing Centre, Gellideg, Merthyr Tydfil
In this role you’ll:
Support young people through the five pillars of youth work
Deliver session 3 evenings of the week
Work with young people aged 11-25 years
Provide activities focusing on informal education, social development and wellbeing
Carry out setting-based evening work as well as street-based and outreach when needed
Provide a robust programme of activities including sports, arts, music, tailored health related workshops
We’re looking for someone who:
At least 2 years of experience delivering youth development activities in a community setting.
Experience of delivering youth extension and development activities for youths aged 11 – 25 yrs, in a community setting.
Must be available for at least 3 evenings per week.
A relevant youth work qualification to a minimum of Level 3 and a commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
Understanding and experience of child protection issues, health and safety, and risk assessment when implementing youth activities.

Part Time Role – June 2026 – March 2027
